About

In 2015 Roman Catholics around the world will celebrate the 50th anniversary of two important documents issued at the Second Vatican Council: The Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions, Nostra Aetate (In Our Times) and the Declaration On Religious Freedom, Dignitatis Humanae (Of The Dignity of the Human Person). These documents underline the importance of respectful engagement in a thoughtful and deliberate manner.

The spirit of positive engagement is one which permeates many religious and social doctrines. Unfortunately, thoughtful religious and social voices have too often been drowned out by polarized and extremist arguments. Convinced that transformative perspectives can be created when diversity of thought and belief are brought together in a productive and respectful manner, the goal of this conference is to remove many of the exclusions which exist in our society, and create an effective interdisciplinary forum. This conference will present both the theory and practice for productive, non-ideological co-operation. Future-oriented, while appreciative of the past, the conference will solicit the attendance and participation of students, scholars, and practitioners from Canada and abroad.
